Fool's Philosophy - by Nate Bartling

Who Should Win The Nobel Peace Prize?

October 12th 2006 13:26
The Nobel Peace Prize is due to be announced this Friday and as usual there is much speculation as to who the winner will be.

Who do you think the prize should go to and why?

In todays society of war and terror the Nobel Peace Prize stands as a symbol of hope and a beacon of light in an otherwise dark and violent world. it is for this reason I think it would be appropriate to award the prize to Thich Quang Do, one of the leaders of the Unified Buddhist Church of Vietnam and a long time promoter of human rights. In 1981 the UBCV was declared illegal for refusing to have their teachings dictated by the Communist Party. Thich Quang Do has spent much of the last thirty years in either exile, jail or under house arrest for criticizing the Vietnamese government and openly declaring he believes Vietnam should be a democracy.

Can anybody think of anyone more appropriate?
