Fool's Philosophy - by Nate Bartling

The Ride of the Black Dragon Chapter: 1

The Ride of the Black Dragon
Chapter 1

At the time that you read this, your time doesn't have elite droids yet. There are no Iron Shepherds, and the Public Safety Guards are still a hidden idea in the back of a young engineer's imagination. That is the only way I am able to write this to you, to come back, to your time, to give you one last glimmer of hope. The age of unsettled democracy you now know is hanging by a string over the hot hell that is the end.

The mud felt cold as I slammed hard against the ground, My face creating a sliding crater from the force of the impact. After two days of running they had found me. The elite droids surrounded me in a suffocating circle. This was far from the first time I'd been in this situation, and I knew what I had to do. The elites were programed with an acute form of infrared target acquisition. The simple trick of completely covering my body temperature had worked before, and was an obvious flaw in the new system.

My body screamed from the coldness of the mud on my wet skin. I laid completely still for what felt like two hours as the droids slowly circled out of their limited range. They had an almost soothing sound as they moved away, internal cooling fans buzzing inside the hot metal.

As the final Elite flew out of sight, I sat up slowly, not wanting to bring the party back around. I quietly started running in the direction of the old ruins. This was the place where so many times I had unveiled secrets of the truth, the place I had learned the true meaning of control, the place I had been a prisoner so many years ago. As I kept running the old street light of my grandfather's farm, somehow was still going strong. It cast an eerie aura over the old rubble as I made my way towards what used to be the cellar.

Jumping down into the sloppy, wet, remains of a foundation I looked around for the golden seal that hid the great power. "ICHE TESSAN ISHTAR ENVON FOR IMASHI!;" I chanted as I opened the evil door.

The door slid open: FINISH THE REST OF THE CHAPTER!
